Twitter is getting a major design and experience overhaul across its native and web apps. You can watch the promo above or check out more information about all the changes.
One thing I don’t know yet is whether Loren Brichter, the developer behind the original and groundbreaking Tweetie app that Twitter bought, had anything to do with this re-imagining of Twitter’s experience.
A really big change is an expansion of the “Activity” tab Twitter added to its web app a couple months back. For example, the @Mentions tab has become @Connect, and it can show more activity such as when others retweet or favorite your tweets, in addition to good ol’ mentions.
The new Discover tab integrates Twitter’s little-known Stories feature, makes it easier to find interesting users and hashtags, and gives you a unified search box for manually entering usernames or hashtags to learn more about them.
Overall I really like it, and it should go a long way to helping new users understand how Twitter works and find relevant users and topics to follow.
Really? Believe it or not, sex and intelligence aren’t mutually exclusive. You don’t lose IQ points every time you fuck someone! The books on your bedside table don’t grow legs and run away in disgust when you have sex! Blowing a guy won’t cause all the profound thoughts to shoot out of your head and your hymen isn’t holding in your smarts! This is pretty subtle slut-shaming hiding behind the guise of promoting books and being awesome*, but it’s slut-shaming nonetheless. You don’t possess superior intellect because you’re a virgin. You don’t possess superior intellect because you’re not a virgin. People need to stop equating girls who have sex with stupidity (guys, too, but let’s be honest - when was the last time you saw a guy shamed for enjoying his sexuality?). Because that’s not cool. What goes on or doesn’t go on in your boudoir changes absolutely fucking nothing about what kind of person you are or how many minds you’re gonna blow in the future.
*by all means, read books. Be awesome. But don’t think you have to build a moat around your virginity in order to do it.^This.
