I find it to be the most effective way to get a solution from a company or service you are unhappy with.

Aside from the Electrolux debacle—which ended in my favor—this past Friday on our way to Pittsburgh we stopped at Panera. I get one sandwich and one sandwich only when I go there….

Seaver Family Smackdown of the Day: Tracey Gold and Alan Thicke have taken to their respective Twitter accounts to respond to homophobic remarks recently made by their Growing Pains co-star, Kirk Cameron.

In an interview with Piers Morgan on his CNN talk show last week, Cameron said he thought homosexuality was “unnatural,” “detrimental” and “ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization.”

Gold, who played Cameron’s sister Carol Seaver on the popular 80’s sitcom tweeted an unequivocal rejection of her TV sibling’s anti-gay sentiments. “I am a strong supporter of the #LGBT Community, and I believe in equal rights for all. #NOH8 #LOVE,” she wrote.

Alan Thicke, patriarch of the Seaver clan, posted a more indirect, but no less unambiguous rebuke of Cameron, saying “I’ll deal with Kirk’s comments as soon as I recover from Rush Limbaugh’s.”

Perhaps the best burn of all came from Sports Night actor Josh Charles, who himself was not a Growing Pains cast member: “I know Growing Pains was only a tv show, but I have to think both Alan Thicke & Joanna Kerns must feel they failed as parents tonight.”

We know what Thicke thinks, but as-yet no word from Mrs. Seaver.

For his part, Piers Morgan praised Cameron for his remarks, calling him “pretty brave” for expressing his “honest” beliefs.

Rolling Stone journalist Matt Taibbi — he who coined the immortal phrase about Goldman Sachs being a “bloodsucking vampire” — spoke at an Occupy Wall Street rally today. Via Taibbi’s blog:

Occupy Wall Street is kicking off a new series of actions today, and as part of the campaign, I’m going to be speaking at Bryant Park at 11 a.m., through about noon, when a march will begin.

The topic is Too-Big-To-Fail banks, and Bank of America in particular.

The Twitters were abuzz with reports from his speech. We’re going to post a few of Taibbi’s thoughts about Bank of America via Twitter.

I never intended to include Chris Brown’s name in one of my tweets to start some sort of a controversy or to gain publicity or anything like that, and now that he’s throwing accusations my way, like using steroids… I feel the need to reply. So please allow me to retort. I’m a lifelong, proud, drug free, straight edge individual, so Chris and I come from two completely different worlds. I don’t have a manager, I don’t have a bodyguard… I don’t need a bodyguard. I don’t have an assistant, I have no need for a PR to tell me what to tweet, or when to tweet. And I don’t hit women. Period. In my world, women are to be revered and respected. And I firmly believe that in this life, there are consequences and repercussions for people’s actions, and I don’t think Chris has payed for what he’s done. Picking up trash on the side of a highway does not make amends for repeatedly striking a woman in the face and sending her to a hospital. So, Chris wants to throw stones my way now and I say that’s fine, but put some gloves on and get in the ring. And I will choke you out, and I will make you feel as weak and as powerless and scared and alone as any woman who has had the misfortune of knowing a sad, cowardly little boy such as yourself, and all proceeds can go to a woman’s shelter of my choosing. If you want to pick up more trash on the side of the highway to make some amends, you should donate more time… maybe tell kids exactly what you did isn’t right. But I’m also a realist, and I know that none of these things will happen because Chris Brown isn’t a man and that’s fine. I just know that someday, somewhere, somehow, somebody will put Chris Brown exactly where he belongs, and it honestly doesn’t have to be me… I would just really like it to be.
